Who’s Patrick

To my family and friends, I’m known as the person that knows random facts or how random things work. I was born and raised in a small town called Marcellus, NY - located just outside of Syracuse, NY. Outside of the realm of machine learning and data science I enjoy spending time with my partner where we’re usually walking or hiking with our dog, Walker (seen exploring below). If we’re not outside, we’re spending time cuddling the cat, Han Solo (seen sleeping below). I hunt in the Fall with my father and enjoy running, especially if it’s cold.

I am an autodidact in the field of quantum mechanics and enjoy Greek and Roman philosophy (especially Aurelius). I enjoy a wide variety of music, which is usually not on the top ten charts and spend a lot of time listening to one of three podcasts: JRE, Lex Fridman Podcast or Eric Weinstein’s The Portal. Very exciting day when they appear on an episode together. I will die on this hill: Einstein’s greatest contribution to science was his work with his wife on Brownian Motion. Why not the theory of relativity? Einstein’s almost completely theoretical derivation of the existence of quanta - primarily referencing lights' wave/particle duality - is the archetypal deduction techniques which require the ethos of a first principles scientist and the middle finger. Einstein was able to follow the mathematical evidence with high resistance from the scientific community, as this hypothesis was counter to the long standing Newtonian/particle model of atomic behavior. In this specific endeavor, Einstein displayed the fortitude it takes to start a revolution in a scientific field, the humility to work with people regardless of what a community thinks of them, and did all of this as a patent clerk in Switzerland.
